Wine Angels With my husband in the wine business, one would think that I would have the inside scoop on all things oenophile. Sometimes being too close to the subject matter doesn't help shed additional light on the topic.
His wine business and my art career are two different venues ( in his mind). That is not quite what I imagined when I first heard the stories of famous vintners riding with him around the state to sell their wares. And there are countless invites to vineyards across the world, but we choose to stay home with the dogs and our parents. Locally, there are unlimited fundraising wine tastings in which to volunteer. Their dazzle has worn, but we do what we can with relish. The Middle sister wines are a big hit, (much to his surprise). The wines are a great collaboration of art, marketing, and wine.
So, I was delighted when Kathy Butzen called to order my wine angels. She owned a wine shop and had an idea for wine illustrations which she shared with me: "Wine has been around since the beginning of time. The wine angels were sent down from the Heavens to gather in the vineyards, and watch over the grapes. That each one has a "job to do"...and each job is their "gift" to the wine and why the wine is so "heavenly". My vision goes beyond the hanging wine angels, to the carvings, perhaps glasses and even apparel. But all 7 angels would have the signature wine stained toes."
