The Unfinished Projects Club

Procrastinated Projects
Crafters and artists know all too well what happens when the projects we love and the rat race of daily life collide. We end up with piles of half-finished projects. Paintings that were started with a surge of enthusiasm are left abandoned in the wake of life's hecticness. Partly knitted mittens end up buried amongst the needles and thread spools of a bulging craft drawer, waiting to be claimed once again. Often, the longing to return to these projects is strong. However, sometimes they just lose their initial fascination as newer, more exciting crafts enter our minds.

A Solution
Karen's friend, Becky Koladis, is one of the many crafters who has run into this dilemma. Being a busy real estate agent, mother, and wife, she's left with little time to work on her many projects. After seeing one too many incomplete crafts, Becky decided to organize a club dedicated solely to the purpose of finishing projects. She named it, appropriately enough, the Unfinished Projects Club. Such a group seemed the perfect thing to bring together friends for quality time and craft-creating.

Crafty Creations
At the recent kick-off meeting, the club got off to a fun and inspiring start. While Karen worked on crocheting a sweater for little Taco, Becky rotated between several crafts that she's wanted to finish for months now. Her latest quilting project, complete with its bright colors, scrap fabrics, and block printed teacup border, finally got some attention once again. "The Unfinished Project Club helps me schedule time to work on the things I don't usually have time to complete, "Becky said, "I've been working on this particular quilt for almost 3 years and so scheduling time will definitely help me to finish and move on to the next project, since there will always be a next! I really enjoy seeing what other people make so the networking aspect of the project club is very fun as well." Some of the other projects that made their way to the group were edible fruit creations and a scarf made from patches of Chinese silk.

Join the Fun
If the Unfinished Projects Club sounds like a group that you'd be interested in joining, please give us a call at 860-292-8142 to register. The meetings will be held on the third Saturday of every month in the conference room at Comstock Ferre in Old Wethersfield, CT. While there is currently no fee to join, we would ask that you bring a beverage or snack to share.

Finishing Touches
At the first meeting of the Unfinished Projects Club, Becky (center) and friends work on their various crafts.

Quilting Creativity
Becky's quilt, with its unique block printed teacups and beautiful red fabrics, was definitely a project that deserved to be finished!

Lucky Dog
Taco's probably pretty glad that Becky and Karen started the Unfinished Projects Club too. He got a crocheted doggie sweater because of it!
