SUMMER SHOWS

Summer Time, Summer Time

For some people, summertime means trips to the beach.  For others it means family vacations or backyard BBQs or quiet weekends of sunbathing and lemonade.  However, for Karen Rossi, summer is the season of shows.  With the arrival of July also comes the beginning of a long line of craft fairs, farmers markets, workshops, and open houses.  But, Karen isn’t complaining.  She is excited to have many new opportunities to share her latest creations, ideas, and one-of-a-kinds.  The behind-the-scenes preparation of the past several months will soon be on display for fans, both old and new.

A Museum of Mosaics

Karen kicked off July with a three-day stint at the New Britain Museum of American Art.  Teaching mosaic classes to elementary-age children was thrilling and inspiring.  She took great joy in watching the young students work meticulously to create their own unique mosaic inventions from tiles, buttons, and stones.  Children as young as 5 years old embraced the craft with diligence and stick-to-itiveness.  One child enjoyed the lesson so much that he returned the next day to continue his exploration of the craft.  This time he arrived with bowling ball in hand, as he took Karen up on her offer to teach the students how to make mosaic gazing balls.

Great Times in Guilford

Stepping outside of the classroom setting, Karen will also take on the craft fair scene, as she takes part in several fairs including the 51st annual Guilford Art Center Craft Expo on July 17-19. Rossi fans will definitely want to stop by, as she will have many original art pieces and sculptures for sale.  The Norfolk Farmers Markets, a favorite destination spot for residents of Northwest CT, will draw Rossi fans to the other side of the state.  These markets, which will be held throughout the summer, will give Karen additional opportunities to display her whimsical originals as well as her newest craft kits (assembled right here at Rossi Studios)!  Karen will definitely be taking part on July 5 and August 30, so be sure to stop by!

Come On In

Karen’s monthly Open Houses will also continue throughout the summer with events being held on July 12 and August 9 from 1-4 PM at her 60 Estey Road studio in Norfolk, CT.  These open houses will provide fans with the perfect setting for finding their favorite Fanciful Flights, banners, candles, and more!  Stop by and stock up on gifts for family and friends!  The July Open House will be a perfect opportunity to think ahead to the holidays as Karen celebrates “Christmas in July.”  Holiday ornaments, “Flights,” and products will all be on sale at great prices!
