Sisterhood
Sororities are all about sisterhood. In fact, the terms sorority and sisters are practically synonymous. Pi Beta Phi even states the goal of friendship on their website when they say, "Pi Beta Phi offers its members the opportunity to be part of an organization where members care for on another, shelter each other and share the bonds of sisterhood." So, when Karen recently met with a local group of Pi Beta Phi members, it was no surprise what awaited her. The group, made up of various generations of sorority members, was so loving, caring, and inclusive. They had asked Karen to teach a "Make Your Own Fanciful Flight" workshop as a way to bring the group together for a fun activity.

Positive Vibes
Everything about the group felt positive to Karen. She didn't hear any complaining or gossiping the whole night. Rather, the evening's workshop was all about comradery and creating. Each woman made her own "flight," and the results were all fabulously unique. One created a portrait of her husband, while others created mini replicas of their moms, children, or themselves. In true Rossi-style, the charms that the women chose for their flights were symbolic. They helped to tell the story of the person portrayed in the "flight."

Participant and Pi Beta Phi alum, Anna Smith, described the evening: "Every winter the members of the Hartford Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi look for a new, creative workshop where we can come together and enjoy each other in a fun and new environment and this year we chose to create our very own personal "Flights" with Karen Rossi. The event with Karen was loads of fun and really inspired sincere friendship among the women!"
