MAHJONGG FLIGHT

A Passion for Mahjongg
So often inspiration begins with the things we are most passionate about. For Faye Scher, that passion is Mahjongg, a game of tiles that originated in China . Faye is a third generation Mahjongg player.  Her love of the game started her on a 3-year-long journey for Mahjongg-themed items, specifically a bracelet charm that reflected the Chinese game. Her search yielded no results, and so she finally had one custom-designed.  In addition to the one she had made for herself, she also had several more produced. They all sold quickly.  This process led her to other products for Mahjongg-lovers, and eventually a website called “Where the Winds Blow” followed.

Big Sellers
Over the years, Faye has connected with many fellow Mahjongg players through her website. She’s found that the most requested item she sells are personalized jokers, which make each set unique for the players. This one-of-a-kind addition transforms a Mahjongg set into an heirloom to pass down to other generations. There have also been many unique and unusual requests from die-hard Mahjongg players. She had one customer who collected giraffes and wanted a custom bone and bamboo set made for her collection.

Friends Around the World
“Where the Winds Blow” has truly helped Faye to meet so many interesting players and has been the source of new friendships as well.  There are many Mahjongg cruises and tournaments each year, held everywhere from Washington and California , to Florida and New York . Players look forward to reuniting with each other at future events. And, Faye also enjoys the pleasure of helping many charities that host tournaments as fundraisers.

A Rossi Connection
Faye was thrilled to connect with Karen and create an exclusive Mahjongg “Flight” together. “Working with Karen Rossi has been great fun for me!” she said. “I have always enjoyed purchasing her artwork as gifts for friends. To have her unique designs to offer Mahjongg lovers on “Where the Winds Blow” is a great honor.”
