Karen always enjoys working with local communities and
hospitals to create art pieces that will encourage and inspire on a larger scale.
Recently, she connected with
Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They
wanted to create a sculpture celebrating babies, children and families to highlight
a plaque area recognizing contributors to their Better
Beginnings Fund, which benefits those served by the Unit.
Playground with Pizzazz
For several years, Karen has been in touch
with the creators of Boundless Playgrounds,
barrier-free playgrounds where children, with and without disabilities, can play
and learn. They had approached Karen about helping with a playground design for
South Windsor. The playground, called "My Friend's Place" was completed
this past month. A gate, built by Karen's friend Tim the Welder and incorporating
