LEEAH JOO
Newcomer
Over the years, many talented artists have played a part in helping the gears of Rossi Studios to run smoothly. Each has lent her or his own unique strengths and abilities to the studio. Most recently, Leeah Joo joined the Rossi Studios’ team. Her background in fine art and painting, along with her teaching experience, has made her a perfect fit for the role of illustrator and art assistant.
Background Check
Leeah was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. Growing up with a sculptor father and an illustrator mother, she was always surrounded by art and encouraged in her creativity. In 1982, at the age of eleven, she and her family immigrated to the United States, where they made a new home in Indianapolis. Finishing her education in 1996, Leeah started to exhibit her artwork throughout the country. She also taught drawing and painting at the University of New Haven and the Kansas City Art Institute. She currently resides in Connecticut with her husband and children.
Current Exhibitions
Through the years, Leeah has been honored to have her work displayed all over the world, from New York City to Seattle, Washington to Seoul, South Korea. Currently, she is taking part in a three-part exhibition at Hendrix College in Arkansas, Eastern Tennessee State University, and Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. Over the next nine months, these three colleges will be exhibiting a collection of Leeah’s window paintings in a show called "Looking In & Looking Out, A Selection of Windows 2002-2008." The paintings are now on display at Hendrix College until the end of the year when they will move to Eastern Tennessee State University in January of 2009. Then, in March 2009, the pieces will continue on to their final destination at Edinboro University.
Leeah just returned from a stay at Hendrix where she was a visiting artist in the Fine Arts department. She gave lectures for the college, conducted critiques for senior art majors, and offered an all-day drawing workshop. Once her window paintings move to Tennessee, she will hold similar lectures and critiques with the students of Eastern Tennessee State University.
