Karen will be walking the show on Saturday and meeting with fans dressed up as none other than "The Quilter" herself! Visit her at the Bernina booth on Sunday and have your picture taken with this true-to-life character. You can also have the small Fanciful Flights version signed by the artist to take home with you! This will be a rare appearance in this fabulous part of the country, so come see Karen while you can! [This show is open to the public!!!]

Karen returns to the South to be part of a wonderful event happening at A Studio in the Woods. Karen will finish her metal gate which she created especially for A Studio in the Woods, and will be present during the dedication ceremony which will be held on October 12 from 3-5. A Studio in the Woods is a non-profit organization whose goal is to enrich lives with art and to enrich artists with nature. Located in a beautiful New Orleans Bottom Lands, this whimsical and quiet artist retreat is sure to inspire the inner artist in all. Karen will be making special appearances all over the infamous Second City in promotion of her new manicure set at Carson Pirie Scott Department Stores. The manicure set features Karen's Spa Lady and symbolic pink ribbons in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a portion of its proceeds will go to The Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation. Karen will be at the Edens store on the 3rd from 6-7p, in Yorktown on the 4th from 11.30a-12.30p, and in Randhurst from 2-3p.

Dancing Under the Stars, West Hartford, CT
Karen will be "Dancing under the Stars" from 6:30-11:30 PM on LaSalle Road and Farmington Avenue at this fabulous event, featuring The Steve Lord Big Band and several national and local guest singers, along with musical interjections by the calypso steel band Steel Sunrise. Twenty-four restaurants from West Hartford will serve a wide-range of fare. The event is free to attend. Food tickets will be sold in books of 19 for $20, 9 for $10 and 4 for $5. Reserve a table for your friends and family and help support the construction of the new Veterans Memorial. Rain date: August 31.

On April 7th 2003, the Hartford Business Journal honored 8 Remarkable Women in Business in the Greater Hartford Area. Karen was nominated and selected by her peers to be featured in this issue. On May 6, the Hartford Business Journal presented these women each with an award recognizing their accomplishments as featured in the article. The luncheon was sponsored by Prospect Financial Services and was in partnership with the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Junior League of Hartford 2003 Decorator Show House, Farmington CT
Two of Karen's original metal sculptures will be on display at the Junior League of Hartford 2003 Decorator Show House, located at 29 Mountain Spring Road in Farmington, CT Show House 2003 will be open to the public April 29 through May 18, 2003. The house will be open Tuesday - Friday from 11am to 3pm and 6pm to 8pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4pm. The Junior League of Hartford will also be selling signed Uncle Sam Fanciful Flights™.

This wonderful house is chock full of charm and history. Set on over 4 acres of land, the home was originally built in 1830 . Notable prior owners of this estate have included Alexander Haig and James Thrall Soby. Mr. Soby owned the home during the 1930's and 1940's and was very involved in the art worlds of Hartford and New York. Frequent guests of Mr. Soby included Salvador Dali, Gertrude Stein, and dear friends Alexander Calder and Chick Austin, the director of the Wadsworth Atheneum.
