A Farmers Market Frenzy

Karen Rossi joins the fun and fresh Farmers Market scene

Meriden, CT July 7, 2008— Farmers Markets are one of those fabulous signs that summer has arrived in full force.  Passersby are beckoned by the stands of fresh fruits, vegetables, and breads, as well as scores of unique and artistic crafts.  Who could resist the urge to attend such a tempting affair?  Local artist, Karen Rossi certainly could not, although her place will be behind one of the booths rather than wandering amongst the rows of farm stands.  Norfolk’s summer markets will become her weekend destination on several Saturdays this summer, as she sells original artwork and her new craft kits.

Karen is known for her whimsical and colorful metal creations.  Fans will not want to miss the opportunity to see her at the upcoming Norfolk Farmers Market on Saturday, August 30, from 10 AM – 1 PM.  She will debut her new craft kits for $30 each.  They are available in “Make Your Own Frame” and “Make Your Own Flight,” and demonstrations on how to use the kits will be given to those who stop by.

Karen Rossi is the founder and owner of Rossi Studios in Meriden, CT. She is recognized worldwide for her charming, highly original portraits and metal sculptures of people, places, and lifestyles.  Recently unveiled have been several large-scale commissions.  In November, a 24-foot weathervane sculpture was installed at Evergreen Walk, a specialty mall in South Windsor, CT.  In addition, South Windsor Library became home to two large, whimsical flying characters.  Most recently, Karen has been working on a wall sculpture commission for the neonatal unit of Saint Francis Hospital, along with murals for the Children’s Hospital of Boston.  Her work is represented internationally in many public and private collections.
